Mr Arijit Maity, Chairman of VFS Capital, a Director of Village Bazaar Pvt Ltd. and the Founder Member Secretary of Village Welfare Society, is the pioneer of the microfinance sector in Eastern India. He has transformed the lives of millions of marginalized people and their families since the inception of VFS Capital.

He started his social entrepreneurial journey in 1978 with the Village Welfare Society, an NGO, and has been associated with microfinance since 1995. As a veteran in microfinance, he is also the founder member of Sa-Dhan and the Association of Micro Finance Institutions West Bengal.

Mr Maity holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Calcutta University. He is an accomplished social reformer with over four decades of extensive wisdom and experience in socio-economic development, food and livelihood security, water and sanitation, disaster and risk management, education, healthcare, old-age care, and vocational training to empower and uplift the deprived segment of our nation.
